SPELLING OBJECTIVES
Students will be able:.
To practice the use of the dictionary for word definitions.
2. To reinforce long and short vowels through the use of spelling words.
3. To practice proper spelling homonyms.
4. To practice proper spelling through writing of sentences using spelling
words.
5. To reinforce alphabetizing skills by alphabetizing spelling words.
6. To practice spelling plural forms of words ending in y, which
is changed
to an i adding es.
7. To reinforce syllabication rules through the use of spelling words.
8. To reinforce r controlled vowels through the use of spelling
words.
9. To develop an awareness of proper spelling in all written work.
HANDWRITING OBJECTIVES
Students will be able:
1. To write end marks, commas, quotation marks and apostrophes.
2. To write upper and lower case letters with and without a model.
3. To connect letters using undercurves, up curves and cross-strokes.
4. To identify and write which capital letters connect with lower case letters.
5. To write numbers legibly in math problems.
6. To write ordinal numbers.
7. To write the date using words and numbers for the months.
8. To use consistent proportion when given no midline.
9. To leave adequate space between letters, words and sentences.
10. To properly align letters on the baseline.
11. To slant letters to the right (special exception should be noted for left-handed
students).
12. To copy letters, words, sentences and paragraphs from books, papers
and the chalkboard.
13. To write all work in cursive except where indicated under previous objectives.
14. To position the paper with the lower left corner pointing right of the
center of
his/her body if right-handed.

Students will be able to:
