GOALS FOR THIS YEAR'S FIFTH GRADERS:
* Become self-confident by giving
the best effort in all you do
* Become responsible for completing all assignments on time
* Become accurate problem-solvers
* Find joy in learning through inquiry based lessons
* Strengthen and develop new skills in all subject areas
HOMEWORK:
Homework assignments are an important part of your child's education. There are many purposes involved:
* To reinforce what has been
taught
* To offer a challenge for further research or study
* To keep parents informed of what their child is doing in school
* To develop responsibility, time management skills, and good work habits
* To make up work not completed due to absences
SUGGESTIONS FOR HELPING YOUR CHILD:
* Have an agreed upon place and
time for doing homework and studying.
* If unsure of tests and assignments, check the assignment pad.
* Help your child organize themselves. Show them how to clean up their book-
bag and where to keep their assignments.
* Check to make sure your child has the necessary supplies for school. Are
their books still covered in February? Do they need more loose leaf paper,
pencils, glue etc. Do they have a free reading
book with them every day?
* Be encouraging. When a child is overwhelmed by the amount or difficulty
of work, reassure them and help them get organized.
* Remember that a child must learn for themselves. Show confidence in their
abilities. Be available, but wait for them to ask for help.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, TRUST, AND COOPERATION
