Welcome to 7th grade English My name is Ms. Dalessandro and I would like to welcome you to 7th grade. I hope that all of you have a safe and fun summer. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and beginning another school year at Byram Intermediate School. In seventh grade English, we will focus on writing, grammar, and spelling. As seventh graders, you will develop your writing skills through a variety of writing assignments. Grammar lessons and spelling units will strengthen your writing and help to improve your understanding and command of the English language.
SUPPLIES Please have the following supplies on the first day of school.
One 2-pocket folder (3-hole punched) will be kept in the binder to store all graded work. The other folder will be used as a classroom portfolio. The portfolio will remain in school. The purpose of a portfolio is to track student progress. All major writing assignments, as well as pre-writing, will be contained in the portfolio so that student progress can be tracked throughout the school year.
HOMEWORK POLICY
Homework is posted on the board each day and students are expected to copy it in their planners at the beginning of each class. Homework will also be posted on my webpage. However, students should not rely on only getting assignments from the webpage. All students should write their assignments in their planners each day. Late homework will result in a reduction of points and WILL NOT be accepted more than 2 days after the due date. Upon the third day, the assignment will become a zero.
BE PREPARED FOR CLASS Everyday, all students will be responsible to have the following items:
I WILL NOT print out typed assignments on the day it is due, no exceptions. You must ASK me for approval PRIOR to the due date.
If at any point in the school year you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. E-mail is the easiest method of communication, or you may certainly leave a message on my voicemail. Again, I hope you all have a wonderful summer. See you in 7th grade! Ms. Dalessandro |
