Classroom Policies and Expectations

7th and 8th Grade Resource Room 104

Language Arts and Reading

Mrs. Linda Hauck

Dear Students,

Welcome to “our” class. I hope that you are as excited about this school year as much as I am. There are a few items that need to be addressed before we begin classroom instruction. In order to have an effective classroom environment, it is important that you know what I expect of you during the school year.

Classroom Rules

1. Come to class prepared and ready to learn. This includes bringing any books, paper, pencils, and supplies necessary to participate in class.

2. Respect all staff, other students, school building, and grounds.

3. Be on time for class.

4. Follow directions and listen to instruction.

5. Complete homework on time.

If you choose to break a rule you will:

1st time- receive a verbal warning

2nd time- a call will be made to your parents, and you will possibly sit with me during lunch.

3 rd time- be sent to the office, a call will be made to your parents, and a possible detention will be issued.

Homework Make-up

It is your responsibility to ask for any missing assignments due to an absence. Please see me your first day back to find out what you missed. You may also phone a friend while you are out and ask them what you missed.

Test/Quiz Make-up

Again, it is your responsibility to check for a missed test or quiz due to absence. See me the day you return so that we can set up a day and time to take the test/quiz. If you miss the scheduled make-up, then you may lose points or get a zero.

Extra Credit

Extra credit will occasionally be given out at my discretion. One thing to consider is, “if you ask for extra credit, you won't get it.”

What I expect of you as a student

 1. To come to class mentally ready and eager to learn.

 2. To come prepared for every class with all classroom supplies.

 3. To complete your homework assignments on time.

 4. To ask questions, ask questions, and ask more questions.

5. To be a good citizen in class and in school and to treat every person in this school with respect.

 6. To follow all classroom rules.

 7. Oh! Did I mention, ask questions. By the way, there are NO stupid questions.

 4. I will help you find the answers to your questions.

 5. I will return corrected work to you in a timely manner.

 6. I will come to class prepared and ready to teach and listen.

 7. I will challenge you to be the best student you can be.

Classroom Instruction

In class you will be doing a lot of reading, writing, spelling, punctuation, and grammar throughout the year. During this time you will work individually, as well as in cooperative learning groups. You will also prepare and research a topic, work on computers, and give oral presentations.

A little blurb about me!

I am excited to be starting my 2nd year at Byram Intermediate school.

I am a certified general/special education teacher. I am also certified to teach math up to 8th grade.

I am the mother of 3 incredible young men, and I am also married to a loving and supportive husband.

I grew up in Central New York and received my education from Buffalo State University.

My interests (outside of the classroom) include doing things with my family, home improvement, jewelry making, reading, and watching Buffalo Sabres hockey.

Before I began teaching, I was a barber and owned my own shop. Now, I am living my dream by being a teacher, and I love it. I especially love touching the lives of my students.
