In-Class Support

Grades 7 & 8
Mr. Steve Chaladoff

For the 2009-2010 school year I will continue to be part of a co-teaching team, which is a service delivery model that allows special education students to be included in the general education population.  Co-teaching is described as "A service delivery model in which two certified teachers, one general and one special educator, share the responsibility for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction for a diverse group of students."

Each teacher in a co-taught setting brings special skills to the partnership.  The special education teacher brings knowledge and skills in individualizing and adapting instruction for students with learning difficulties.  The general education teacher contributes an in depth knowledge of grade level or subject specific curriculum.

The opportunity for this type of collaboration fosters a shared commitment to ensure that all students receive a variety of learning opportunities based on their individual learning needs.

I look forward to "looping" with some of the 6th graders as they enter 7th, as well as some of the 7th graders as they enter 8th this coming September. Wishing everyone a great school year!

THANK YOU,
