Intermediate Self-Contained L/LD Classes:
Mrs. Wollenberg

Special Events - Police Academy Day 2007

Welcome:
My class is geared to meet the individual needs of each student.  My goal is for each student to be challenged, not frustrated, to find success and feel good about himself or herself.  Since organization plays an integral part in achieving success it is imperative that you work closely with your child. Make sure he/she comes to school prepared to work, with the materials needed, homework done, and a positive attitude toward learning.  Please check their planner daily, it is a great means of communication between home and school. If you have any questions please contact me any time, via e-mail Wollenberg.Diane@byramschools.org or by phone (ext. 1632), a note in your child's planner or letter.

It is the objective of the self-contained L/LD classes to cover the topics required by the general education curriculum. The material will be presented at a pace, level, and manner the student/class can grasp, retain and enjoy. Specific objectives for all subjects and grade levels can be found by clicking on the links provided below.

HOMEWORK:

It is essential that you as parents check planners on a daily basis and check assignments for completeness, not correctness. Some assignments are started as class work, and time is provided in school for their completion. However, if your child does not finish, the assignment becomes homework. Other assignments are necessary to reinforce the day's lesson. Nothing is sent home that has not been covered in the classroom.

If your child is absent for any reason, it is imperative that he/she see the teacher(s) of all their subjects and obtain the missing assignments as soon as they return to school. It is your child's responsibility to complete and turn in the work in a timely manner. Check school policy regarding absences for additional information regarding time frames.

Students are given ample time to prepare for tests and they should study a little bit each night. Quizzing your child is a good way to assist them in preparing for their tests.

SOME HELPFUL HINTS FOR SUCCESS:

1) Find a quiet place to work, and have the materials you will need at hand.

2) Do your homework when it is assigned so it won't pile up.

3) Use your time wisely. Do long term assignments a little at a time. Don't wait for the last minute. This is especially important when preparing for tests.

4) Don't make excuses! You control what you do.

5) BE ORGANIZED! Put your school books and finished work in a place that you will remember it for the next day.

Be proud of your work and do your very best each and every day!
