Welcome to the Byram Intermediate School.   Our students are part of a true learning community.   The Byram Intermediate School provides students with a gradual transition from the elementary setting to the high school program.   This school's atmosphere is designed to develop academic skills, artistic exploration, life skills, and social maturity.   We recognize the necessity to balance a rigorous academic program with an environment that is developmentally appropriate.   At a time when students are developing more rapidly than any other in their lives, we have in place a strong support system that fosters academic, social, and personal growth.   We also establish practices that define academic expectations, improve the quality of student work, and provide the opportunity to learn in a variety of interesting and stimulating formats.   The instructional program emphasizes the mastery of language skills, the development of critical thinking skills and problem solving strategies, and the ability to make well-informed decisions.   

The students of the Byram Intermediate School are offered many exciting opportunities through our academic and extracurricular programs.   In addition to language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and world language our students are challenged in encore subjects.   Encore subjects include art, music, industrial arts, physical education, guidance groups, and family and consumer science classes.   The Byram Intermediate School also provides extensive opportunities for our students to become involved in after school activities such as sports and clubs.   Students are offered the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities and learn the importance of cooperation and healthy competition.  

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated and professional faculty that works extraordinarily hard to create an outstanding learning community.   The teachers' commitment to excellence has made the Intermediate School a special place and an environment that effectively prepares students for the challenges they will face in the twenty-first century.  

As in any partnership, the parents, teachers, and administration work closely on a daily basis to provide our students with the most rewarding educational experience possible.   I look forward to working with you, and wish all of our students a great school year.
