Introduction Letter from NEW Byram Lakes Elementary Supervisor

posted Nov 4, 2015, 6:41 AM by Jeremy Slockbower

*the below letter is a copy / paste from an official letter being sent home with Byram Lakes students as well has posted in the e-backpack*

Dear Parents and Guardians:

My name is Patrick O’Donnell and I have officially started my position as Elementary Supervisor for the

2015-2016 school year. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to finally begin my time here in this

wonderful school community of Byram. It has always been my belief that an effective relationship between the

school and parents is crucial to maximize the learning potential of our kids. Part of that effective relationship is

getting to know one another which is why I am taking the time to introduce myself to you in this letter. In

return, I encourage and welcome you to let me know if you have any questions or would simply like to say “hi!”

Prior to this position, professionally, I was a middle school Social Studies teacher in the Alexandria

Township School District for almost seven years. While I was employed there, I also served as the advisor for

the Newspaper and Mock Trial clubs as well as the coach for softball team. I had an absolutely wonderful time

teaching there and immersing myself into the school culture. Then, I realized a couple of years ago that I was

ready to take the next step and move into the world of administration. I earned my Master’s Degree in

Educational Leadership and Administration this past January from Montclair State University. As an

administrator, my main interests include developing a love of and proficiency in literacy, demonstrating the

relevance of the subject matter, as well as developing and maintaining a positive school culture.

On a personal note, I live in Lake Hopatcong with my wife, Bernadette, and two young sons, Colin and

Gavin. At four months old, Gavin is the newest addition to our family but, thankfully, he is actually a pretty

decent sleeper. In my spare time, I enjoy thinking about what it would be like if I actually had any spare time!

Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way and have greatly enjoyed seeing them grow and learn new things.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you to ensure that your children are learning and

developing into wonderful young citizens. Furthermore, I am very excited to help Mr. Abato and the amazing

staff of Byram Lakes Elementary School continue to provide a wonderful education for your children. If I can

ever be of assistance, I encourage you to reach out to me. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to

introduce myself and I am sure we will find the rest of this school year to be safe, fun, and a genuine learning

experience.

Sincerely,

Patrick O’Donnell, Elementary Supervisor

A change has been made to the first day of school for kindergarten students.  ALL kindergarten students will now attend a full day of school on the first day, as opposed to the orientation schedule that was provided at Spring Into Kindergarten in the spring.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
